Neil Jain
Neil Jain is an Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Manchester, United Kingdom with a specialist interest in Sports Injuries and Sports Trauma, particularly soft tissue injuries around the shoulder and knee, now working within the recently aligned Northern Care Alliance National Health Service Trust within the NHS. A graduate of Southampton University Medical School in 2003 he completed his Basic Surgical Training in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. After finishing his Orthopaedic Registrar Rotation based around Manchester in the North-West of England, he completed a Reconstructive Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine Fellowship in Vancouver, Canada.
Neil is actively involved with teaching, supervising the Regional Trauma & Orthopaedic Registrar’s FRCS Revision group as well as teaching on many courses both nationally and internationally. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at The University of Salford. He has regularly presented and published research projects at National and International Meetings along with publishing in peer reviewed journals. He regularly attends International Conferences to remain abreast of the latest advances within Sports Trauma Surgery.
Within Sport he has worked with many international sports teams, players and elite athletes including the English National Football team, the Vancouver Canucks (NHL), INEOS Grenadiers (Cycling) and several participants at the recent Tokyo Olympic Games. Neil has not long ago completed a Sports Medicine Diploma with the International Olympic Committee and a Football Medicine Diploma with FIFA.
He is currently the Treasurer to the British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma & Arthroscopy Association (BOSTAA) and has just completed a role as an International Committee Member of The Arthroscopic Association of North America (AANA). Neil Jain is proud to be a member of The British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and the founder of UK Sports Medicine, advancing treatment in sports injury through research and innovation.
Mr Jain remains to be a specialist of Sports Injuries across the body with a specific interest in Shoulder and Knee soft tissue injuries that are treatable with arthroscopy. In addition, he is a specialist at tendon ruptures throughout the body. He also has a specialist practice in Joint Preservation utilising non-operative techniques to help his patients delay the need for Joint Replacement Surgery.
Prof Waqar Bhatti
Consultant in Musculoskeletal and Sports Radiology I’m a Consultant Radiologist specializing in musculoskeletal and sports.
I’ve been the personal radiologist to both Manchester premiership football clubs since 2007, and radiologist to Lancashire County cricket club and several rugby clubs. I was the only radiologist from the region at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and provided support to the 2012 Olympic teams based in Manchester.
I continue to provide support to British Cycling, British Athletics athletes, the national Taekwondo and ladies netball teams, and multiple other sports professionals including boxers and golfers.
I have a strong team-based approach with sports physicians, orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, and podiatrists, and we’re in regular contact with one another directly and via multidisciplinary meetings, to discuss optimal case management and post-procedural therapy for patients.

Dr. Gulraiz Ahmad
Dr. Gulraiz Ahmad qualified from the University of Birmingham and completed his foundation medical and radiology training in Manchester.
Having completed his radiology training, Gulraiz undertook a one-year fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology at McGill University Hospital Center (MUHC) in Montreal, Canada. During his fellowship, he gained extensive experience in multiple imaging modalities and image-guided procedures, particularly related to trauma and sports injury, having had regular interaction with NHL ice hockey and Canadian football players, as well as College draft athletes. Dr Ahmad also gained extensive exposure to the imaging and diagnosis of soft tissue and bone tumours at MUHC, which is a regional orthopaedic oncology referral centre for the province of Quebec.
Dr. Ahmad was employed as a consultant radiologist at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in 2020 and practices at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Wythenshawe Hospital. His practice involves reviewing and reporting X-rays, CT and MRI scans. He also performs diagnostic ultrasound scans, as well as treating various joint and soft tissue disorders with image-guided intervention.
Dr. Ahmad strongly believes in a multidisciplinary approach to optimising patient care and has regular contact with orthopaedic surgeons, sports doctors, physiotherapists and rheumatologists through various multidisciplinary meetings.
Dr. Ahmad has regularly published in peer-reviewed journals. He enjoys an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and currently serves as an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Salford.
Steve Kemp
Steve Kemp is the lead physiotherapist for the Men’s England Senior Football team. He has covered over a hundred games with the team, including a 4th place finish in the Russia 2018 World Cup and runners up in the 2020 European Championships.
He has over 20 years’ experience in professional sports in the UK and abroad. Following degrees in both physiotherapy and sport rehabilitation, Steve undertook a Masters in the Science of Sports injury at Manchester University and a Postgraduate diploma in manual therapy at Birmingham University. He is currently undertaking a PhD in Ankle Ligament rehabilitation at Imperial College London. He is a guest Lecturer at Birmingham University and University college London, and has presented internationally in rehabilitation of the elite athlete.
Steve spent 4 years as Head of Medical Services for Wolverhampton Wanderers, before taking up a position as Elite Football Physiotherapist at St George’s Park. He has also had stints at Leeds United, Preston North End and Busan Icons in South Korea. He has additionally worked as a private physiotherapist with athletes from numerous sporting professions. Steve is a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and is a Gold-accredited member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine (ACPSM).
